Mervyn Steenson
Head Chef

Mervyn has been our Head Chef since 2006. He started his career at 16 as a baker & so began his life-long passion for cooking, taking inspiration from Rick Stein & Tom Kerridge. He has a lot of respect for esteemed food critic Charles Campion & was lucky enough to be a judge alongside him at The Great Taste Awards in 2018.
His style of cooking is good, honest, locally sourced food, cooked from fresh wherever possible. Mervyn is an ardent promoter of local produce and is always on the look out for new artisan food producers.
He is one of the founding members of The Food Heartland Hospitality Forum and has been highly commended by The Food Heartland & Yes Chef! & a finalist in LCN Awards. In his spare time he likes to get out on one of his scooters & very much enjoys the 'Mod' scene or chilling at home with his wife.
